Dark Monday - A Poetry Evening
A Poetry Evening
Questors Poetry Evening
On Monday 3rd October, there will be an evening of sparkling sonnets and free-wheelin’ free verse in the Studio, read by some of our finest actors, and written by members of The Questors and the Pitshanger Poets.
Every Tuesday evening in the Committee Room, the Pitshanger Poets meet to discuss sprung rhythms and trochee feet. But surely these aren’t the only versifiers hanging around The Questors? Of course not! For what do we theatrical types like better than iambic pentameter or a witty bon mot?
And that is why the Poets have proudly presented an opportunity for all Questors members to collectively dust off their power ballades and odes to joy. Sonnets, sapphics, haikus, limericks - no verse too free nor rhyme too strained.
Come along to hear the glorious results.
Dark Mondays
During the run of a play in both the Playhouse and the Studio, there is no performance on the Monday. Dark Mondays provide an opportunity for Questors writers to see their unpublished work at a developmental stage on a night when typically there is nothing else on at The Questors.
Because Dark Mondays take place using an existing set, there is a strong focus on the text of the play or other work, rather than the staging of it. The performance is done as a rehearsed reading, with scripts in hand, and using minimal props and furniture.
